Our take

In this middle-of-the-road spy thriller, an agent cut off from her team races to trade secrets for her kidnapped husband's life. Set pieces include gunfights, stabbings, broken fingers, and a bomb strapped around someone's neck. Strong language rides with the chases, including the f-word and at least one c-word. Older teens who already handle R-leaning action can manage it around US R and up with a parent.

Uplifting themes

Avery's choices come from loyalty to a partner and refusing to abandon someone under threat. Working with unlikely allies shows up once she is cut off from her team. Force still solves most problems, so the uplift stays limited. Avery stays competent and stubborn, willing to take the fall to protect someone she loves. Agency colleagues and underworld contacts mix help with betrayal. Teens get a capable woman lead inside a very familiar spy formula Avery stays competent and stubborn, willing to take the fall to protect someone she loves. Avery fights through shootouts, stabbings, slashes, and fist fights across the mission. She breaks a man's fingers for answers, and a bomb strapped around a neck raises the stakes. Deaths and kill threats belong to the spy-thriller rhythm

Interrogations and chase stress bring frequent strong swearing, mostly the f-word. The s-word, a-word, b-word, and at least one c-word land as insults too. The hard-edged spy tone matches the insults

Quieter beats between missions hold a romantic stroll and talk of a first kiss. An old affair gets named on a blackmail list. Nothing turns into a sex scene or a clear nudity focus

Background beats hold a wine-run joke and casual adult drinking. Passing talk of drug runners comes up in the spy world. Substances never drive this story forward for parents watching

Her husband's hostage blackmail keeps a constant countdown feel. Abduction, bombs, and betrayal pile on until quieter scenes still feel unsafe. Thriller dread fuels the scare; younger teens may find that pressure relentless

Shootings and knife work leave bloody wound detail; a screen even shows massacre aftermath with close-up injuries. Guns, bombs, and blades stay visible tools of the job. Parents who skip gory action should know the blood reads clearly

Set pieces make spy gadgets, neck bombs, and improvised violence look slick. Kids cannot copy that hardware, yet the cool framing of hurting someone for intel deserves a clear talk. Call it movie fantasy when you discuss it at home

Talk after watching

  • Avery is forced to choose between duty and family. How would you talk about that pressure at home?
  • Action films often treat torture as a shortcut to answers. Did any scene feel like it crossed a line for you?
