View all categoriesOur take
This is the most high-school-flavoured Spider-Man, following a fifteen-year-old hero proving himself while hiding his secret from the adults around him. It is funny and warm, but the action gets genuinely tense, with a scary villain, a man vanished by an alien weapon, and Peter trapped and frightened under rubble. There is frequent mild swearing, teen crushes, a party, and brief drug and porn references in dialogue. The lesson about responsibility runs strong throughout. Early teens who follow these films will feel right at home
Uplifting themes
The film makes a strong case that being a hero is about responsibility and character, not gadgets or glory. It values honesty, growing up, and looking out for your own neighbourhood Peter is a good-hearted kid who learns from real mistakes, and his mentor pushes him to be better, even clumsily. Supporting friends are loyal, giving the film a warm, decent core
Story (may spoil tone)
Following the events of Captain America: Civil War, Peter Parker, with the help of his mentor Tony Stark, tries to balance his life as an ordinary high school student in Queens, New York City, with fighting crime as his superhero alter ego Spider-Man as a new threat, the Vulture, emerges.

Super-powered fights, alien weapons, a ferry torn in half, and a collapsing building drive the action. A henchman is vanished by a strange gun and the villain threatens to kill Peter. It is energetic and tense but light on blood

Mostly mild, built on hell, damn, and crap, with a scattering of sharper words like the s-word, a-word, and b-word. It fits a teen-centred film and never piles up into a barrage

Teen romance and crushes run through it, with a near-kiss and some flirting. A song lyric and a quick classroom joke about porn add brief, mild innuendo. Nothing is shown

A high school party has teens around alcohol, and song lyrics toss in drug references such as cocaine. It is background texture, with no use dwelt on. Easy to miss if you are not listening for it. Not a drinking story

The villain is a genuine menace, and one slow car-ride scene turns quietly terrifying as he pieces things together. A later sequence traps Peter, scared and alone, under heavy rubble. Those beats are intense for younger kids

Peter is only fifteen and lands in real danger more than once, nearly drowning and crushed under a collapsed building. He is frightened and calls for help before saving himself. His age makes the danger feel more real

A classmate repeatedly needles and belittles Peter at school, the usual high-school pecking order. It is low-level but persistent. Worth a word about how that kind of needling lands

Alien guns and gadgets feature heavily, and a man is disintegrated by one in a startling moment. Deaths are not bloody and bodies are not dwelt on afterward
