DC Showcase: Green Arrow is a brief animated short. Oliver Queen has to stop assassins from killing a young princess at an airport. There is bow combat, henchmen yelling "kill you," and a little mild swearing. It is over quickly, so the intensity does not linger. Mention to kids that this is a short, not a full film. We put this at 10, with a parent, because a child royal is the assassination target, even in a tight runtime.
Uplifting themes
Using skill to protect a child from hired killers is the whole point of the short. Showing off takes a back seat to getting her out alive. Simple and readable in ten-odd minutes Oliver is cocky, then he does the job of a bodyguard properly. The princess has to keep her nerve while adults try to murder her. Short, clear models of protect-first
Story (may spoil tone)
At an airport, the Emerald Archer must protect a young princess from assassins.

Airport assassins try to kill a princess while Green Arrow fights them with his bow. Punches, arrows, and death threats are the whole short. It is brisk and animated, but the intent to murder is clear

Crap and similar bursts slip out in the scuffle. There is not much runtime for a stream of swearing. One or two lines will still register. Worth remembering when you pick a night for it

A young princess is the assassination target and is in danger for most of the short. She is not tortured; she is hunted. That is enough for a parent to treat this as more than a throwaway gag

A line about a father dying the night before sits in the setup. It is spoken, not shown as a death scene. Brief, but it adds a somber note. Worth remembering when you pick a night for it

Talk after watching
- Oliver is protecting someone much younger than him. What does “using your skills to guard” look like compared with showing off?
- Assassins treat a child as a job. How do you talk about that without making the short feel bigger than it is?
