Why our age differs

Official is R 18+ 18+. We say 15+ because the death set pieces are graphic and loud, and that is where the watch sits for most teens. The restricted label still applies in cinemas

Our take

The Final Destination follows survivors of a raceway disaster vision as elaborate accidents kill them one by one. Graphic injuries, jump scares, strong language, and a discussion of trying to die to escape the pattern make it heavy. ClearAge shows an editorial age of 15+, but the displayed official rating is R18+; follow the official restriction where it applies.

Story (may spoil tone)

A horrifying premonition saves a young man and his friends from death during a racetrack accident but terrible fates await them nonetheless.

Friends blame each other after loved ones die in the opening disaster and later accidents. Shock and anger sit where soft mourning might. Loss is real even when the film races to the next trap

Talk after watching

  • The film treats Death like a puzzle. Does that make the gore feel less real to your teen, or more?
  • When is watching disaster for thrills different from caring about the people on screen?
