Our take

Housefull is a wedding farce set partly around a London casino. Gambling is prominent, while sexual innuendo, kidnapping jokes, and threats of violence fill the confusion. Suicide attempts are played for laughs, which may be the hardest material for families. We put it at around 14 and up.

Uplifting themes

Love and friendship win after the chaos, but the road is mostly selfish schemes Everyone fibs; few model integrity until the very end Cultural comedy export; little factual learning beyond Bollywood trope spotting

Story (may spoil tone)

Believing himself to be a jinx and bringing bad luck upon himself and others, a man attempts to find true love, but ends up in very complicated relationships.

Talk after watching

  • The hero thinks he brings bad luck. How does the movie use that idea for humor, and when does it feel cruel?
  • Suicide and gambling show up as jokes here. How would you react if a friend treated those topics the same way?
