Our take

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies mixes Regency romance with martial arts and zombie combat. Gunfire, stabbings, blood, and monster fights are frequent, while swearing is milder and romance stays mostly to kisses. We put it at around MA 15+ and up, matching the displayed MA 15+ rating, with a parent nearby for the gore and scares.

Uplifting themes

Elizabeth and Darcy still learn to trust each other and fight as a team. Class prejudice gets poked at along the way. The lesson sits under a lot of carnage Elizabeth is brave and skilled, and she refuses to be pushed around. Darcy comes around from stiff to helpful. They kill a lot of zombies while doing it If teens know Austen, they can spot how the story riffs on the novel. It is a pop-culture hook, not a classroom substitute

Story (may spoil tone)

A zombie outbreak has fallen upon the land in this reimagining of Jane Austen's classic tale of the tangled relationships between lovers from different social classes in 19th century England. Feisty heroine Elizabeth Bennet is a master of martial arts and weaponry and the handsome Mr. Darcy is a fierce zombie killer, yet the epitome of upper class prejudice. As the zombie outbreak intensifies, they must swallow their pride and join forces on the blood-soaked battlefield in order to conquer the undead once and for all.

Heroes slice and shoot their way through hordes of undead, with pistols, blades, and an explosion in the mix. Zombie kills are frequent and bloody by design. The fights feel adventure-movie loud, not realistic crime violence

You will hear bloody hell, damn, and b-word more than modern f-bombs. Characters also joke about Hell and horsemen rising from it. It fits the period mash-up and stays moderate overall

Banter about tempting the other sex and a double wedding where couples may kiss. Nothing like a bedroom scene or nudity on screen. Romance stays Austen-flirty with a horror overlay

Groaning undead, monster talk, and traps in the dark keep tension up. A line calls someone a monster before a big fight. Jump scares and corpse horror are part of the fun for fans, not for nervous younger kids

Zombie blood stains marble and splatters during battles. Guns cock and fire through several set pieces. Gore is stylized horror level, not surgical close-ups, but it is visible

Talk after watching

  • The film treats killing zombies like a sport. How does that compare to real violence?
  • Elizabeth and Darcy still argue about pride. What would their story look like without the undead?
