Our take
Crawl traps its characters in rising floodwater with alligators and looters nearby. Bloody bites, darkness, and panicked swearing make the danger intense. We put it at around MA 15+ and up, matching the displayed MA 15+ rating, with a parent nearby for teens who fear animals or drowning.
Uplifting themes
Family loyalty and not giving up on an injured parent drive the hero. She also ignores official evacuation advice. Talk about smart rescue versus risk Haley is brave and skilled under pressure. She puts herself in extreme peril to reach dad. Admirable grit, questionable choices
Story (may spoil tone)
When a huge hurricane hits her hometown in Florida, Haley ignores evacuation orders to look for her father. After finding him badly wounded, both are trapped by the flood. With virtually no time to escape the storm, they discover that rising water levels are the least of their problems.

Bite wounds, bleeding limbs, and dead gators show clear injury. A handgun matters in the third act. Graphic enough for R territory but not torture-focused

Characters wade into floodwater and handle guns during a storm. The film warns via consequences, but kids might miss that. Stress staying out of flood zones
