Why our age differs

Official is US R. We say 15+ because the alligator gore, constant f-word, and racist taunts are hard, while the story stays a short creature thriller

Our take

A flooded prison transport becomes an alligator hunt. People have guns as well as animals to fear, and the attacks are bloody. Strong swearing and racist insults add to the harshness. We would wait until US R.

Uplifting themes

A thin strand of cooperation appears when floodwater forces enemies to share a plan. Most of the film still rewards survival spectacle over care A few people try to keep others alive when the animals hit. Plenty of characters still lead with threats and insults

Story (may spoil tone)

A horde of giant hungry alligators is unleashed on a group of in-transit prisoners and their guards after a massive hurricane floods Louisiana.

Talk after watching

  • Guards and prisoners have to cooperate when the flood hits. When does survival force people who hate each other to work together?
  • Characters trade racial insults under stress. How do you call that out without letting the movie's anger set the tone at home?
