A drifter becomes a messenger between scattered communities after a war. The Postman has a hopeful streak, but it takes nearly three hours to get there through militia rule, gun battles and executions. We would keep it for M and up because the violence and the long, grim stretches ask a lot of a younger viewer.
Uplifting themes
A con artist who pretends to deliver mail slowly becomes a real symbol of hope for scattered survivors. The story argues that community and small acts of courage can outlast tyranny The postman grows into someone who protects kids and stands up to bullies with words before guns. Several adults around him choose mercy once they see through the propaganda
Story (may spoil tone)
In 2013, there are no highways, no I-ways, no dreams of a better tomorrow, only scattered survivors across what was once the United States. Into this apocalyptic wasteland comes an enigmatic drifter with a mule, a knack for Shakespeare, and something yet undiscovered: the power to inspire hope.

Talk after watching
- The hero builds trust by pretending at first. When is a white lie worth it if it keeps people from giving up?
- Leaders in the film use fear to control towns. How can you tell when someone is selling hope versus selling control?
