Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome follows a survivor into a brutal arena and then toward children living alone in the desert. A crowd demands death in the Thunderdome, vehicle chases are dangerous, and the children face hunger and pursuit. The s-word recurs, with one f-word and a brief brothel reference. We put it at around M and up for its sustained violence and child peril.
Uplifting themes
A hard man is asked to protect kids instead of winning a deal. The film keeps saying war eats people, even when the next fight is already queued. Loyalty to the small and lost is the moral that sticks Max is grim and selfish at first, then he puts the children ahead of the town's games. He is not a gentle teacher. Still, watching someone choose the kids over the deal is worth a talk Teens might ask how a town could run on waste and fear after a collapse. The film is adventure, not a civics class. Keep the history chat light
Story (may spoil tone)
Mad Max becomes a pawn in a decadent oasis of a technological society, and when exiled, becomes the deliverer of a colony of children.

A man is told he must kill someone to settle a town dispute, then the dome fight turns into a public brawl. The crowd chants kill him while weapons and chains swing. Later chases keep the threat going across the desert

The s-word is part of Bartertown talk, along with damn, hell, and crude farmyard insults. One f-word drops when tempers snap. It sounds rough and dirty, not like a swear contest

Someone is waved off because the brothel is full, which tells you how this town sells people. Outfits are skimpy and the place feels sleazy. There is no long sex scene, just adult trade sitting in the open

The wasteland looks starved and mean, and the arena feels like a trap you cannot leave. Masked fighters and a roaring crowd make the night feel unsafe. Sensitive teens may find the kids' camp sad as well as scary

Children live without parents in a harsh desert, with little food and an uncertain hope of rescue. They are drawn into the adult conflict and face danger during the escape

Bartertown ranks people by use, and the smallest kid is mocked as worthless. Power is a public show. It is mean-spirited without becoming a hate-crime story

Talk of blood up to the armpits sits next to blades, spears, and a kick to the guts. You see injury in the arena and the chase, not a medical close-up. Weapons are the town's idea of sport

Arena combat, chains, and vehicle stunts are filmed as exciting action. Their real-life consequences would be severe, even if the film does not pause to explain them
Grief / bereavement The children carry stories of the world that ended and the adults they…
The children carry stories of the world that ended and the adults they lost. A leader talks about fighting turning into killing that nearly finished everyone. The ache is quiet, then the action starts again

Talk after watching
- Bartertown runs on deals and fear. When is a trade fair, and when is it just bullying with extra steps?
- The children want a saviour. What happens when they put that job on a stranger who never asked for it?
