View all categoriesOur take
Mad Max 2 is a lean post-apocalyptic chase film about gangs fighting over a fuel tanker. Crashes, killings, arrows, guns, and flamethrowers make the danger constant, while a feral child is at risk for long stretches. Language is milder than the violence. We put it at around M and up for viewers comfortable with its harsh action
Uplifting themes
A loner can still choose the group when fuel and lives are on the line. Sharing the road beats hoarding it. The lesson is thin, but it is there Max is grim and self-interested, then he spends his skill on people who cannot outrun the gangs. The camp leaders try to keep kids and fuel alive. Nobody is a polished hero You can talk about scarce resources and what a community owes strangers. The rest is stunt craft and dust. Treat it as a prompt, not a history lesson
Story (may spoil tone)
Max Rockatansky returns as the heroic loner who drives the dusty roads of a postapocalyptic Australian Outback in an unending search for gasoline. Arrayed against him and the other scraggly defendants of a fuel-depot encampment are the bizarre warriors commanded by the charismatic Lord Humungus, a violent leader whose scruples are as barren as the surrounding landscape.

Raiders chant kill orders, then smash into a compound with cars, arrows, and guns. People die in crashes and close fights. The last chase is long and mean, not a single punch-up

Raiders wear revealing leather, and someone jokes about lingerie. In a disturbing attack, men tear a woman's clothes, exposing her breasts. A man is briefly seen on top of her, implying rape, and she is seen topless afterward. This is sexual violence, not a romantic scene

The opening calls the roads a nightmare, and the siege keeps that promise. Masked raiders, a child in the dust, and sudden crashes build a bleak mood. It stays tense even between fights

Guns, arrows, and flamethrowers are named and used, and wrecks leave bodies in the dirt. A line about living off a corpse matches what you see. Injury is clear without turning into a medical close-up

Max is introduced as a man haunted by what he already lost, and more people fall in the convoy. The film does not stop for a eulogy. Loss is the weather, not a single funeral

Talk after watching
- Max helps because it suits him, then because people need him. What does a decent choice look like when the world is already broken?
- A child grows up watching the road war. How did that sit with your teen?
