Our take

A mother and daughter return to a village where girls have disappeared, and a frightening local story begins to feel real. Maa has jump scares, disturbing images and danger to children, with an assault reference as well. We would keep it for 16 and up.

Uplifting themes

Protecting family and facing evil together matter in the end. The path there runs through a lot of dread The mother fights for her child even when she doubts herself. Not every ally stays trustworthy

Story (may spoil tone)

A mother and daughter encounter a demon in a village where girls have been disappearing.

Talk after watching

  • The story blends goddess myth with modern fear. How does that mix change how scary it feels compared with a straight slasher?
  • Mother and daughter trust each other unevenly as the threat grows. Where do you see them choosing courage over panic?
