Why our age differs

Official is M. We say 16+ because illegal gambling drives the plot, language stays harsh, and a prison-assault warning sits in adult company

Our take

Molly moves from sport into running high-stakes poker games, and the money draws in people she cannot control. Molly's Game has strong language, drug misuse, gambling addiction and a violent assault. We would start at 16.

Uplifting themes

The late arc pushes toward owning mistakes and telling the truth in court. Integrity gets a hearing, even after years of corner-cutting Molly is clever and tireless but bends rules for years. Most players and handlers model greed more than guidance Useful for talking about why underground gambling draws federal attention and how fast money warps friendships. It is cautionary, not instructional

Story (may spoil tone)

Molly Bloom, a young skier and former Olympic hopeful becomes a successful entrepreneur (and a target of an FBI investigation) when she establishes a high-stakes, international poker game.

Talk after watching

  • Molly keeps calling the games a business instead of gambling. Where do you think she crossed a line she could not walk back?
  • She finally speaks about doing the right thing under oath. What would real accountability look like for someone running a risky side hustle?
