Our take

Brian goes undercover in a drug operation and brings an old friend into the job. 2 Fast 2 Furious makes street racing thrilling, with reckless driving, gun threats and some coarse language. We would start at 13.

Uplifting themes

Friendship and loyalty between Brian and Roman grow through the mission Monica and Brian aim to stop a predator; Roman learns to trust. Criminals are not glorified by the end

Story (may spoil tone)

It's a major double-cross when former police officer Brian O'Conner teams up with his ex-con buddy Roman Pearce to transport a shipment of "dirty" money for shady Miami-based import-export dealer Carter Verone. But the guys are actually working with undercover agent Monica Fuentes to bring Verone down.

Talk after watching

  • Brian and Roman lie to almost everyone while trying to take down Verone. When is undercover work heroic, and when does it cross a line?
  • The film makes street racing look like the coolest way to win. What would real-world consequences look like?
