Why our age differs

Official is MA 15+. We say 16+ because prolonged bloody violence, corpse detail, and a child held at gunpoint keep the impact high throughout

Our take

They Call Him OG is a long, hard gangster thriller built on revenge, port turf wars, and stylised bloodshed. Shootouts, blade attacks, and graphic aftermaths run through the plot, with talk of beheadings and mass killings. Strong language shows up in bursts, and a trafficking raid adds sexual threat without turning into a sex film. We land at 16 and up because the sustained gore and child-in-danger beats push past a standard MA action night

Uplifting themes

Protecting loved ones and trying to leave a violent past behind still matter to the lead. The film also shows how revenge keeps widening the damage Allies show loyalty under pressure, yet heroes solve most problems with lethal force. Role-model value stays thin beside the body count and revenge engine

Story (may spoil tone)

Trained to fight in Japan, a man's peaceful life in exile abruptly ends when trouble pulls him back to Mumbai to help those he swore to protect.

Fire is used as a weapon against a hospital in one crisis beat. Guns and blades dominate, but that arson threat is the clearer copycat worry for younger teens

Family deaths and mourning push characters back toward revenge rather than peace. Loss is named clearly, then folded into the crime plot without soft padding

  • The hero left violence behind, then gets pulled back in. When is walking away from an old life still possible?
  • Loyalty to family and crew drives many choices here. Where is the line between protecting people and fueling a cycle of revenge?
