Our take

Alone is a tense apartment siege story set during a sudden viral outbreak, with Aidan barricading doors while infected Screamers fill the building. Blood, close-quarters fights, and desperate kill-or-be-killed choices keep the pressure high. Strong language shows up in panic, and another survivor's suicide is talked about. We land at MA 15+ and up because the sustained threat and grim survival beats match a restricted horror night

Uplifting themes

Trust and small acts of care between strangers still matter when the building falls apart. Survival is framed as something people do for each other, not only alone Aidan keeps trying to protect others even while terrified. His choices stay messy under pressure, so the role-model glow is limited

Story (may spoil tone)

When an outbreak hits, Aidan barricades himself inside his apartment and starts rationing food. His complex is overrun by infected Screamers, and with the world falling apart into chaos, he is left completely alone fighting for his life.

Isolation, rationing, and fear of turning push Aidan toward despair. The film treats loneliness as part of the horror, not a side note

Talk after watching

  • Aidan cuts himself off from the world to stay safe. When does isolation protect you, and when does it make things worse?
  • Survivors argue about whether killing an infected person is mercy or murder. How would you talk about that choice with your teen?
