Why our age differs

Official is M. We say 16+ because sustained stalking and murder at prom push past a lighter horror floor

Our take

Prom Night (2008) is a teen horror remake about a killer from a girl's past hunting her and her friends on prom night. Stalking, murders, and hotel chases keep the tension high even when blood stays limited for the rating. Mild to moderate swearing (hell, damn, the s-word, b-word) turns up in panic and teen banter. We land at 16 and up because the stalker-prom killings and chase dread make this a harder watch than a soft teen slasher night

Story (may spoil tone)

Donna's senior prom is supposed to be the best night of her life, though a sadistic killer from her past has different plans for her and her friends.

Long stretches of hallway stalking, missing friends, and the sense that the killer is already inside build real dread. This is straight teen-slasher anxiety, not a mild thriller

Donna carries the murder of her family into what should be a celebration. Grief colors her nerves even before the hotel chase begins

Talk after watching

  • Donna tries to enjoy prom while adults promise she is safe. How do you talk about fear without spoiling a big night?
  • Friends split up when things go wrong at the hotel. What would you want your friends to do in a scary situation?
