Why our age differs

Official is US R. We say 16+ because the gunfights and savage-killer horror are strong, yet the cut stays action-thriller rather than extreme torture spectacle

Our take

Soulcatcher is a hard military-contractor shoot-em-up with explosions, stabbings, and talk of murders done by hands and teeth. Strong swearing runs through the ops chatter, and kidnapping plus mind-control horror keep the tone dark. Romance is barely a lyric at the end. We land at 16 and up because frequent gun violence, body trauma talk, and a savage-killer device stack into a rough adult action watch

Uplifting themes

A late lyric about standing up for something peeks through the smoke. Most of the film still rewards force and revenge over repair A few teammates show loyalty under fire when a mission goes wrong. Even so, the heroes still solve most problems with guns first

Story (may spoil tone)

A military contractor hired to seize a weapon that turns people into savage killers seeks revenge when his brother falls victim to the device.

A closing song mentions being a lover in soft lyrics over the end credits. Nothing sexual is staged beyond that light throwaway line

Someone jokes about drinking a whole bottle without sharing during downtime. Alcohol is a throwaway beat, not an addiction theme

Autopsy talk of killing with hands and teeth, plus visible firearms and blast aftermath, push injury detail. Wounds matter more than a clean cartoon fight

A brother's fate and revenge for family loss sit under the mission. Grief fuels the chase more than a quiet mourning scene

Talk after watching

  • Characters chase a weapon that strips people of control. What responsibility do adults have when tools can be used to hurt strangers?
  • Revenge drives much of the mission. How do you tell when payback has stopped being justice?
