Underworld is a dark fantasy about a long war between vampires and werewolves. Gunfights, monster attacks, blood, and transformations are frequent, while a discreet intimate scene and some strong language add adult content. The guide places it at MA 15+ and up for sustained gothic action and visible injury.
Uplifting themes
Choosing a person over an old blood feud is treated as brave, not soft. Loyalty and questioning orders get airtime. The film still solves most problems with guns A warrior who starts to think for herself, and a man who wants the war to stop, give teens something to talk about. Neither is a gentle role model. Their choices still push against blind loyalty
Story (may spoil tone)
Vampires and werewolves have waged a nocturnal war against each other for centuries. But all bets are off when a female vampire warrior named Selene, who's famous for her strength and werewolf-hunting prowess, becomes smitten with a peace-loving male werewolf, Michael, who wants to end the war.

Someone learns a loved one's family was wiped out, and that pain fuels the hunt. The loss is spoken more than lingered on as a funeral. It still gives the revenge story a heavy heart

- She was raised to hate a whole group on sight. When is loyalty just another kind of fear?
- The romance cuts across enemy lines. Would you risk your side for one person?
