Our take

Underworld: Evolution continues the vampire-and-werewolf conflict with machine guns, creature attacks, and more blood. Strong swearing appears in bursts, while intimacy between the leads stays secondary to the fighting. We put it at around 16 and up for the sustained fantasy violence and adult language.

Uplifting themes

Working across old enemy lines and facing hard family truth get a little space. Most of the film still celebrates the next fight. Thin uplift beside a lot of spectacle Partners who protect each other under fire show some loyalty. Heroics stay violent. Not much for younger teens to copy

Story (may spoil tone)

As the war between the vampires and the Lycans rages on, Selene, a former member of the Death Dealers (an elite vampire special forces unit that hunts werewolves), and Michael, the werewolf hybrid, work together in an effort to unlock the secrets of their respective bloodlines.

Family killing and why her people died come back as painful knowledge. The hurt sits under the chase. It is not a quiet grief drama, but loss still matters

Talk after watching

  • Family secrets rewrite who the heroes thought they were. How do you handle a truth that breaks your side?
  • The fights keep escalating. When does defending yourself become the same old war?
