Why our age differs

Official is MA 15+. We say 16+ because the long hospital dread around an injured child and armed standoffs feel heavier than a standard restricted thriller

Our take

Fractured is a tense Netflix thriller about a dad whose wife and injured daughter seem to vanish inside a hospital. Blood, broken bones, guns, and strong language pile on while staff doubt his story and he grows more frantic. Child injury and the fear of a missing family sit at the centre, with drunk-driving talk and an overdose patient in the background. We land at 16 and up because the sustained dread around a hurt child and late armed confrontation ask for older teens watching with a parent

Story (may spoil tone)

Driving cross-country, Ray and his wife and daughter stop at a highway rest area where his daughter falls and breaks her arm. After a frantic rush to the hospital and a clash with the check-in nurse, Ray is finally able to get her to a doctor. While the wife and daughter go downstairs for an MRI, Ray, exhausted, passes out in a chair in the lobby. Upon waking up, they have no record or knowledge of Ray's family ever being checked in.

Talk after watching

  • The father is sure something is wrong while everyone else doubts him. How do you stay calm when adults will not believe you?
  • Hospitals are supposed to feel safe. What would you want a parent to do if a child was hurt and the system felt confusing?
