Detective Tom Ludlow hunts killers of fellow officers while Internal Affairs and federal agents circle his unit. Shootouts, torture talk, and bloody crime scenes are frequent, with heroin dealing and racist banter among cops and robbers. Language is extremely harsh, with the f-word in almost every scene once the investigation heats up. Rape is mentioned in case files, not depicted. We land at 17 and up because the combination of graphic violence, drug crime, and nihilistic police culture is aimed squarely at adults
Uplifting themes
A few characters push toward truth and protecting civilians, even when the system is rotten. The overall message is cautionary about power, not uplifting Tom has loyalty and courage but routinely crosses legal and moral lines. Teens should not treat him as a hero template
Story (may spoil tone)
Tom Ludlow is a disillusioned L.A. Police Officer, rarely playing by the rules and haunted by the death of his wife. When evidence implicates him in the execution of a fellow officer, he is forced to go up against the cop culture he's been a part of his entire career, ultimately leading him to question the loyalties of everyone around him.

Talk after watching
- Tom breaks rules to punish men he thinks deserve it. When does tough justice become the same cruelty he hates?
- The film shows cops planting evidence and covering for each other. What would real accountability look like in that squad?
