Our take
A US PG-13 animated DC film with sci-fi battles against evil Justice League doubles. Punches, energy blasts and occasional blood spurts stay stylized. Mild language includes hell, damn and crap. Best for 13 and up.
Uplifting themes
Teamwork and courage push back against corruption Batman and his allies protect Gotham from a twisted league
Story (may spoil tone)
The Batman family has returned to the present to discover that Japan has disappeared, and a giant island - Hinomoto - is now in the sky over Gotham City. At the top sit the Yakuza, a group of superpowered individuals who reign without honor or humanity and look suspiciously like the Justice League. Now, it’s up to Batman and his allies to save Gotham!

Talk after watching
- What makes a hero in an alternate universe still feel like Batman?
- Anime-style action is fast and flashy. How is it different from live-action superhero violence?
