Our take
Bloody violence, nudity, sex and sexual violence references fill this MA 15+ animated adaptation. The rating cites bloody violence, sexuality and graphic nudity. Nuclear war dread and a murdered-child backstory add intensity. Strictly for adults familiar with the graphic novel's mature themes.
Uplifting themes
Responsibility and questioning authority appear amid bleak moral gray zones Flawed vigilantes: characters are complex antiheroes, not youth role models
Story (may spoil tone)
Suspicious of the events ensnaring their former colleagues, Nite Owl and Silk Spectre are spurred out of retirement to investigate. As they grapple with personal ethics, inner demons and a society turned against them, they race the clock to uncover a deepening plot that might trigger global nuclear war.

Talk after watching
- Superhero stories here reject simple good-versus-evil. What happens when heroes break laws?
