Our take

Bury the Devil is rated R. A hospice nurse is trapped overnight with a dementia patient who may be possessed. Dialogue includes heavy profanity during panic, talk of murder and exorcism, and frightening demon imagery. Gore stays relatively restrained for the rating, but the claustrophobic horror tone is intense. Best for older teens and adults who handle supernatural dread, not younger viewers

Uplifting themes

Characters briefly weigh doing the right thing, but survival horror overshadows uplift

Story (may spoil tone)

When a hospice nurse finds herself trapped with a dementia patient, she begins to suspect something else is wrong with the woman, something otherworldly, and must fight to survive the night.

Talk after watching

  • The nurse must decide whether the patient is sick, dangerous, or something supernatural. How do people tell fear from fact in a crisis?
  • Characters argue about doing the right thing even when scared. When does moral courage matter most?
