Our take

An L.A. cop digs into a neighborhood secret in this US R thriller. Heavy f-word dialogue, gang intimidation, guns drawn at a school, and a demon-killer storyline all share the screen. Beer, whiskey, and smoking turn up in lyrics and banter, and racial slurs sit in the street talk. Horror-tinged cop drama with jumpy confrontations. ClearAge leans toward 17 for older teens and adults.

Uplifting themes

Home-turf protection is what drives the hero, even when his methods turn messy Shielding his old neighborhood from the threat closing in is what the lead cop keeps trying to do

Story (may spoil tone)
