This is a bloody horror version of Pinocchio, with close-up injuries, dismemberment and sustained threat. There is strong swearing and a brief scene of sexualised breast and buttock nudity. A boy's magical puppet becomes the killer, so the familiar title gives little sense of how graphic the film gets.
Story (may spoil tone)
Influenced by a sinister Cricket and created by Geppetto, Pinocchio launches a violent crusade to carve himself into a real boy like his brother James, one piece at a time.
