Our take
The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water sends the Bikini Bottom friends to the surface, where they face a storybook pirate and try out superhero powers. Explosions, slapstick, and a brief spell of townwide chaos are loud but bloodless. Language and scares stay mild. We put it at around 7 and up, with a parent nearby for younger fans.
Uplifting themes
Friendship and teamwork save the day, with SpongeBob insisting the gang cooperate even with their worst rival. It leans hard on sticking together and sharing. The message is loud, warm, and easy for small kids to catch SpongeBob stays relentlessly kind and optimistic, pulling a bickering crew into working as a team. Plankton is a scheming foil who edges toward doing the right thing. There are gentle lessons under the chaos

Bikini Bottom briefly falls into a chaotic, dusty wasteland when the secret recipe goes missing, and the pirate can loom large. It all stays comic and resolves fast. Very young viewers might find the mayhem a bit much
