Why our age differs

Official is PG. We say 7+ because pirate scraps and sea-creature chases are noisier than the softest PG cartoons, even with the jokes

Our take

Ice Age: Continental Drift sends Manny, Diego, and Sid to sea after their land splits apart. Pirate scraps, sea creatures, storms, and playful kiss jokes fill the adventure. The action is cartoonish and the tone stays warm, though the water scenes may feel big to sensitive children. We put it at around 7 and up.

Uplifting themes

Working together and a father who will not give up on his family are said out loud. The herd keeps choosing home over ego. Clear, kid-friendly values Parents and friends risk the sea to reunite with the people they love. Sid and Diego still crack jokes while showing up. Good models for loyalty without lectures Continental drift and ocean travel may spark simple science questions about moving land. Keep answers playful. The film is pirate comedy first

Story (may spoil tone)

Manny, Diego, and Sid embark upon another adventure after their continent is set adrift. Using an iceberg as a ship, they encounter sea creatures and battle pirates as they explore a new world.

Silly kiss jokes and cruise-romance teasing pop up for a laugh on the iceberg. Nothing goes further than playful talk. Easy for primary kids who already see cartoon crushes

Sea creatures and stormy drifting create a few louder water scares. Humour softens most of them

Talk after watching

  • Manny's family believes he will never give up on them. What does that kind of promise look like at home?
  • The story says they can all work together. When is teamwork harder than doing it alone?
