Why our age differs

Official is PG. We say 7+ because dinosaur chases and a scary apex predator are more than gentle preschool fare, even with the comedy

Our take

Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs takes the gang into a dinosaur world. Big chases, comic threats, and rescue dashes bring cartoon peril without lingering injury. The humour and friendship keep the tone light, but a large predator may frighten young dinosaur fans. We put it at around 7 and up, with a parent nearby for sensitive children.

Uplifting themes

Family grows in messy ways, and friends climb into danger for one of their own. Belonging matters more than looking tough. Sweet talk after about who counts as family The herd keeps choosing loyalty over ego, even when they grumble. Sid's heart is bigger than his sense. Kids see caretaking valued, not mocked Dinos and underground worlds may spark curiosity about fossils and old Earth. Keep facts light and fun. The movie is adventure comedy, not a museum tour

Story (may spoil tone)

Times are changing for Manny the moody mammoth, Sid the motor mouthed sloth and Diego the crafty saber-toothed tiger. Life heats up for our heroes when they meet some new and none-too-friendly neighbors – the mighty dinosaurs.

Dinosaur scrapes, comic kill threats, and rescue dashes keep the pace up. Nobody lingers on real injury. It is cartoon peril with teeth that still look big on a screen

The underground dinosaur setting and a large predator bring chase scares. The humour softens them, but sensitive young children may still find the creatures frightening
