Our take

Evil Dead Rise traps a family in an apartment building with violent, possessed attackers. Bodies are torn apart in close view, children are caught in the siege, and strong swearing rises with the panic. The film is relentless and graphic rather than playful. We put it at R 18+ and up.

Uplifting themes

Adults and kids keep trying to protect each other when the odds look hopeless. Loyalty shows up as action, not speeches. The film is still mostly about surviving the night A pregnant aunt and older siblings dig deep to shield the youngest, even when fear would be easier. They make messy choices. Care for family still cuts through the chaos

Story (may spoil tone)

A reunion between two estranged sisters gets cut short by the rise of flesh-possessing demons, thrusting them into a primal battle for survival as they face the most nightmarish version of family imaginable.

Possessed relatives attack with tools, teeth, and anything sharp, and the fights keep coming in tight hallways. Blood sprays across walls and lifts. Survival means fighting people who still look like family

Panic brings a steady stream of the f-word, plus the s-word, hell, and harsh insults including a crude c-word. Swearing spikes in the worst attacks. It sounds angry and scared, not comic

Possessed characters use unwanted kisses and sexual taunts against people close to them. There is no sex scene, but the intimacy is threatening

Demonic possession, rotting faces, and a locked-in apartment siege keep dread high from the midpoint on. Jump shocks land often. Horror is the whole point, not a side dish

Children are trapped in the building while possessed adults hunt them. Some are injured and terrified on screen, and the danger lasts for long stretches

Dismemberment, eye injuries, torn flesh, and heavy blood are shown in close detail. Household tools become weapons, and the camera rarely cuts away

Improvised weapons and bloody DIY fixes look vivid enough that a reckless teen might joke about copying a stunt. The film treats it as nightmare survival. Still worth a quick house-rules chat

Losing people you love to possession leaves survivors raw and cornered. The goodbyes are short and brutal. Grief sits under the gore more than it leads the story
