Why our age differs

Official is PG. We say 12+ because casino cheating, adult revenge, and coarse language run through the whole heist.

Our take

Ocean's Thirteen is a glossy heist comedy about friends getting even with a casino owner. Cards, slot machines, and cheating fill the setting, while the crew's crimes are treated as clever sport. Language is mild to moderate, and there is social drinking and light flirting. A friend's collapse gives the scheme an emotional reason. We put it at around PG and up, with room to discuss why the theft looks so appealing.

Uplifting themes

Standing by a hurt friend is the moral the crew keeps repeating. The method is still a crime, played as cool. Families can talk about loyalty without copying the con The team works together and looks after their own, which kids may admire. They are professional thieves, and the film lets them win. Do not treat them as a homework club Curious teens might ask how casinos actually work, and that can open a money talk. The film itself is entertainment, not a civics lesson. Keep expectations light

Story (may spoil tone)

Danny Ocean's team of criminals are back and composing a plan more personal than ever. When ruthless casino owner Willy Bank doublecrosses Reuben Tishkoff, causing a heart attack, Danny Ocean vows that he and his team will do anything to bring down Willy Bank along with everything he's got. Even if it means asking for help from an enemy.

A friend collapses after being mistreated, prompting the crew's revenge. A gun appears later, but this is mostly a caper rather than a violent action film

The s-word appears more than once, along with hell and son of a b-word when tempers spike. It is sprinkled through the heist, not a wall of swearing. Younger ears will still catch it in quiet rooms

Vegas showgirls, hotel-room teasing, and adult flirting run in the background of the con. Nothing turns into an explicit sex scene. Parents may still want to skip it with kids who notice every wink

Wine is ordered and talked about in hotels and back rooms. Nobody is falling-down drunk. It reads as night-out drinking in a city built on excess, not a drug plot

A close friend collapses after being forced out of his casino, and that scare hangs over the revenge plan. Later tension is about getting caught, not monsters. Sensitive kids may worry about the medical shock more than the heist

A gun is noticed near the end, and someone jokes about a bloody gadget around a neck. There is no wound close-up or body pile. Weapons stay in the furniture of a casino job

Casinos, cards, and roulette are everywhere. The crew cheats to punish a dishonest owner, and the film makes their scheme look clever and rewarding

Talk after watching

  • The crew cheats a casino to stand up for a friend. When does loyalty turn into hurting someone else?
  • Winning here means making the house lose. How is that different from a fair game?
