Why our age differs

Official is MA 15+. We say 16+ for the constant crude sex talk and drug-case raunch on top of the buddy-comedy frame

Our take

22 Jump Street sends Schmidt and Jenko undercover at a college to trace a drug pipeline. Frequent f-words and crude sex jokes run through the comedy, while pills, cocaine, and heroin are named in the case. Action brings shooting threats and car chaos. We put it at around 16 and up, above the displayed MA 15+ rating.

Uplifting themes

Friendship between the partners still matters when the case wobbles. Growth is mostly bro-comedy shallow. Do not expect deep life lessons Heroes lie, swear, and chase parties while on duty. They mean well but behave like overgrown teens. Not examples for younger viewers You might discuss undercover work and peer pressure if you try hard. The film is not trying to teach. Entertainment first

Story (may spoil tone)

After making their way through high school (twice), big changes are in store for officers Schmidt and Jenko when they go deep undercover at a local college. But when Jenko meets a kindred spirit on the football team, and Schmidt infiltrates the bohemian art major scene, they begin to question their partnership. Now they don't have to just crack the case - they have to figure out if they can have a mature relationship. If these two overgrown adolescents can grow from freshmen into real men, college might be the best thing that ever happened to them.

Mixing mystery pills and binge drinking is played for comedy around the investigation. Easy for teens to miss the real-world risk. Call out that party drugs are not a joke off-screen

Talk after watching

  • Why do the partners start doubting each other when college fun gets in the way?
  • When a comedy treats drugs as a punchline, who is actually hurt in real life?
