Why our age differs

Official is MA 15+. We say 17+ because the sexual humor and language are closer to an MA 15+ US parody than a restricted teen comedy

Our take

A Haunted House spoofs found-footage horror with crude sex jokes, possession, and frequent strong swearing. Alcohol, cannabis, and meth are joked about, while some jump scares may still unsettle younger viewers. We put it at around 17 and up, above the displayed MA 15+ rating, for the sexual humour and language.

Uplifting themes

Couple loyalty peeks through the filth. Messages are mostly don't take horror clichés seriously. Thin moral layer Leads are horny, loud, and often wrong for laughs. They care about each other between gags. Not role models Could mention how horror tropes work if you pause the joke stream. Film is not teaching. Skip unless you want a media-literacy chat

Story (may spoil tone)

Malcolm and Kisha move into their dream home, but soon learn a demon also resides there. When Kisha becomes possessed, Malcolm - determined to keep his sex life on track - turns to a priest, a psychic, and a team of ghost-busters for help in this spoof of all the "found-footage/documentary style" films released in recent years.

Malcolm wants to protect his sex life while Kisha is possessed, and jokes cover ghost sex and bedroom antics. Crude visual gags are the point. Not porn, but relentless and adult

Beer, wine, cigarettes, weed jokes, and a meth glove-box gag stack up. Party drinking is normalized. Hard-drug mention is brief but blunt

Demonic moans, possession, and horror references create jumpy nights even in spoof. Young viewers may not feel the comedy buffer. Know your kid with scary tropes

Characters taunt spirits and swing weapons stupidly on purpose. Parody, but kids might mimic the bravado. Quick safety reality check

  • When a comedy copies scary movies, what still feels real enough to bother you?
  • How do Malcolm and Kisha talk about consent and trust when things get weird?
