Our take

Alice returns to the Hive for one more fight against the zombie outbreak. Resident Evil: The Final Chapter gives little pause between attacks, shootings and bloody creature fights. The violence is the main concern here. We would watch from 16.

Uplifting themes

Alice fights to save the last human enclave, and sacrifice for others appears in the finale. The story still celebrates stylised killing Alice is brave and loyal to survivors, though her methods are entirely violent. Allies vary from protective to ruthless

Story (may spoil tone)

Picking up immediately after the events in Resident Evil: Retribution, Alice is the only survivor of what was meant to be humanity's final stand against the undead. Now, she must return to where the nightmare began - The Hive in Raccoon City, where the Umbrella Corporation is gathering its forces for a final strike against the only remaining survivors of the apocalypse.

Talk after watching

  • Alice keeps risking her life for strangers in a broken world. What makes a hero keep going when the odds look impossible?
  • The film treats big explosions and head shots as entertainment. How do you separate fun action from real-world violence?
