Our take

Colony traps scientists and executives in a locked-down conference center when a mutating virus creates hive-minded infected. The US R rating and UK 15 certificate both flag bloody violent content and strong horror imagery, including fungal body-horror transformations and relentless chase set pieces. Language spikes during panic but romance and substance use are not focal. Expect a loud, graphic survival thriller closer to Yeon Sang-ho's zombie catalog than a family disaster movie

Uplifting themes

Characters weigh sacrifice and cooperation while debating how to protect the wider public Professor Se-jeong leads survivors with scientific focus, though the ensemble includes ruthless choices

Story (may spoil tone)

Professor Se-jeong is thrust into a bloody nightmare when a rapidly mutating virus is released during a biotech conference causing authorities to seal the facility. Trapped inside with no escape, Se-jeong along with a small group of survivors must fight to stay alive while the infected undergo horrific transformations.

Talk after watching

  • Survivors debate whether killing the first infected patient is necessary. When does science ethics collide with public safety?
  • The infected mimic and coordinate like an ant colony. How does that make them scarier than classic slow zombies?
