Our take

Disgraced scientists rebuild a failed experiment through the criminal underworld in this sci-fi thriller. Moderate profanity, action peril, and moral ambiguity ride along. The film stays pulpy and light on graphic detail. Teen sci-fi fans already comfortable with crime-crossover plots will recognize the mix.

Uplifting themes

Rebuilding a dangerous engine forces the crew to cooperate, so loyalty under pressure does show up. The job still sits inside a criminal plan, which keeps the message mixed Even while making illegal choices, a few characters show grit and care for teammates. They read as messy examples. Clean role models for kids they are not

Story (may spoil tone)

After a fatal test shuts down their project, a disgraced team of scientists enters the criminal underworld to rebuild a forbidden space-bending engine that could rescue humanity or annihilate it entirely.

A failed experiment that killed nine people hangs over the crew, while later danger talk plus an explosion keep the stakes high. Science gone wrong supplies more of the peril than fistfight action does

Dialogue slips in a few brief romantic or innuendo lines. Nudity is not emphasized. That material stays light and easy to miss

A catastrophic lab failure and talk of a machine that could wipe people out keep a tense sci-fi edge. Unease hangs around without tipping into horror-movie jump tricks
