View all categoriesOur take
This is one of the lighter, funnier Marvel films, built around size-changing gadgets, car chases, and a rescue mission instead of world-ending stakes. Fighting is brief and comic, with a phasing villain called Ghost who looks a little eerie but is never truly frightening. The main thing parents notice is the language, a steady run of damn and hell with a few sharper words mixed in. A dad-and-daughter bond and plenty of silliness keep the heart front and centre. An easy watch for most kids around 9
Uplifting themes
Second chances, teamwork, and keeping promises to the people you love run through the story. Scott repeatedly puts others ahead of his own freedom Hope van Dyne is capable and level-headed as the Wasp, and Scott, for all his bumbling, is a devoted, present dad. The family pulls together under pressure
Story (may spoil tone)
Just when his time under house arrest is about to end, Scott Lang once again puts his freedom at risk to help Hope van Dyne and Dr. Hank Pym dive into the quantum realm and try to accomplish, against time and any chance of success, a very dangerous rescue mission.

Fights are short and played for fun, with shrinking tricks, car chases through the city, and a villain who phases through walls. Weapons appear but injuries are mild and nobody dwells on harm

This is the film's main flag, with frequent damn and hell plus a scattering of stronger words, including the s-word. The tone is comic throughout and never hateful

A couple of gentle romantic moments and a joking line about kissing are all that comes up. Nothing is shown and it stays very mild. Romance is hinted at. Nothing is shown beyond that

A plea deal mentions cannabis in passing and there is a silly truth-serum gag. Neither is dwelt on or made to look appealing. Easy to miss if you are not listening for it. Not a drinking story

Ghost flickers and distorts in a slightly creepy way, and there is talk of a monster-like threat. It stays comic-book light, so the scares are brief and mild

Gadget weapons and the occasional gun turn up in the chases, but there is no real blood or injury detail. Harm is kept cartoonish and quick. The threat is clear. The camera does not stay on the wounds

Hank and Hope quietly ache over a wife and mother lost for decades, though the film stays hopeful about reaching her. It gives the comedy a soft emotional centre
