Our take
Rated PG for action, mild violence and rude humor. Mario, Luigi and Peach rocket across galaxies to stop Bowser Jr. from freeing his father. Fantasy battles bring lasers, bombs and explosions, plus a giant robot kidnapping, a T-Rex chase and a character turning into a skeleton after lava. Kissing sounds and cheek kisses appear, without a real romance plot. Mild insults and one deity exclamation are the extent of the language. Most kids 7+ who handled the first Mario film should be fine; sensitive preschoolers may need a hand during darker moments.
Uplifting themes
Teamwork, bravery, and helping friends across the galaxy drive the adventure Mario, Peach, and Luigi keep trying to protect others even when outmatched Rewards Nintendo fans with game references more than classroom lessons
